BS 6 Yamaha MT 15 Revealed In India,

Yamaha Motor India has revealed the BS6 MT 15 for the year 2020. The bike was unveiled at a launch event organized by Yamaha in Chennai. The MT 15 fully fared sibling R15 V3 got the BS6 update earlier this month. The BS 6 model will go on sale in February next year.

The upcoming model of MT 15 will get a revised engine, which compies the new emission norms. MT 15 will get new colors and value-added features in the upcoming new variant. The price of the bike will also be increased by 3-4 k for the new variant. Yamaha R15 V3 BS6 variant got the price hike of only 2,000 INR for the BS 6 variant.

New Features in The BS6 Yamaha MT 15

The new BS6 MT 15 will get a new color option. The ice fluo vermillion paint scheme has white base shade and orange painted alloys wheels. Earlier some dealers in India used to offer orange painted alloy wheels for an extra amount.

Engine and Performance

yamaha motors India has not revealed the technical specification yet. The earlier variant was powered by a 155cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled engine. The motor was capable of churning out 19 hp of max power and 14.7 Nm of peak torque.

The recently launched BS6 Yamaha R15 V3 power output was dropped significantly. The BS6 Yamaha R15 V3 produces 18.3 bhp of maximum power and 14.1 Nm of peak torque. The drop in power and torque will affect the real-world performance of the bike.

The Yamaha MT 15 also shares the same engine as the R15 V3, so the revised power and torque output may be similar to the BS 6 Yamaha R15 V3. However, MT 15 still uses a speed gearbox and the old clutch mechanics from the BS4 variant.

Still, the MT 15 uses the same telescopic front forks similar to the old BS4 variant and mono-shock suspension for the rear end. The braking duties are taken care of by disc brakes at both the front and rear. Unlike its sibling, MT 15 get a single-channel ABS setup.

The Yamaha MT 15 face competition from KTM duke 125, As both of these bikes, fall in the same category. To clarify, the KTM duke 125 has not been updated to the BS 6 variant.
