KTM 390 Adventure
So, KTM finally revealed the much awaited 390 adventure at the IBW in goa. 390 adventure is designed to handle tough terrains. It gets the same engine setup as the naked sibling duke 390. But the engine is tuned to be stronger at the low and mid range. KTM might introduce the 250 adventure as well with the lower pricing. The 390 adventure is expected to be priced at RS 3 lakhs ex-showroom.
The entry level adventure touring doesn’t really have a lot of product offering in the market, with only few options for buyer to choose from. Till now Royal Enfield Himalayan was the only option for a decent entry level adventure touring. While the BMW G 310GS is a premium product with a price tag that is not accessible to a lot of audience. If KTM is able to price this under 3 lakhs, it could be a hit like its siblings models.
So let’s talk about the 390 Adventure
So definitely the bike is recognizable that it is from a KTM breed, it has bits and pieces that have been shared from the existing KTM models. Starting from the headlight, they are similar to the the duke 390, full led with a DRL. The body panels are minimal as it should be. The body frames are derived from the KTM 450 rally, which is a extra light weight and rugged frame. There is a windscreen to help with the wind blasts while riding. The front suspension is covered with a guard which is integrated to the front fender.
The fuel tank has the capacity of 14.5 littres, which is slightly bigger than the other 390s. The radiator is protected with a addditonal cover that is not seen on the naked models. It has a rugged and strong skid plate to protect the engine. exhaust looks a little big and is place a notch higher to offer better clearences. The tail light setion is small and compact, which is good in case you are carrying a luggage. overall the design is good.

It is powered by the same 373cc single cylinder, liquid cooled, fuel injected, DOHC engine as the naked duke 390. The power output figure aree also the same as the duke 390, it produces 43hp of maxiumum power and 37 nm of maimum torque. altough the engine is tuned in a different way. The power output is focused to be in the low and mid range.

ELECTRONICS AND SOFTWARES
The 390 Adventure is Equipped with good amount of electronics and riding aids for a entry level adventure motorcycle.
The most important one is MTC (motorcycle traction control). MTC is not offered on the duke 390 or the RC 390. Traction control system is not available in the BMW G310GS.
It has Cornering ABS as well on the riding Aids list. Use of cornerring ABS can increase its price siginificanttly. It is a premium feature, which is not generally used in this segment. But come on its KTM, VFM is their Motto.
Super Moto ABS is also available, which heels the rider disengage the ABS from rear wheel.
KTM 390 Adventure Verdict.
390 Adventure surely is a amazing bike on paper, but a lot of features may be skipped for the Indian variant to keep the cost low.
Only time will tell, how many of theses features will be available on the Indian variant. With really no proper competitor in this segment it can rule if priced below the BMW G 310 GS
