Bajaj Puslar RS400

A long ago in the year, 2014 Bajaj showcased the concept model of the Pulsar RS400 at auto expo, but instead of the RS 400, Bajaj launched the baby RS 200 in the Indian market. It got a good response but the avid pulsar fans were curious to know the status of the RS 400.

Back then in 2018, The MD of the company Rajiv bajaj confirmed the launch of RS 400 in the year 2018-19. It was confirmed to be launched but it never made its way to the Indian market. The Pulsar RS400 was spied testing a lot of times earlier, but the camouflaged Pulsar RS was actually the new colour variant of the BS4 Pulsar RS 200.

Pulsar RS400 India Launch & Price

So, the big question is that Is the Pulsar RS400 going to be launched in the Indian market? Well, we are sorry to say that there are no signs of the launch possibility now. It was speculated to be launched soon after the Dominar 400. Even though Bajaj has updated its flagship Dominar 400 with all-new BS6 compliant emission norms, there are no signs of the possible launch, the fastest pulsar in India.

Reportedly Bajaj is currently working on the Dominar 250-based Pulsar NS 250. According to the sources, the pulsar NS 250 is in the stage of its initial development and could be revealed anytime soon. The Demand in the premium 250-400cc segment is increasing day by day, and Dominar 400 has a good response from Indian buyers. So, we Expect Bajaj to launch the Pulsar RS400 soon, as it has already created a buzz in the Indian market.

If Bajaj launches the Pulsar NS 250 and RS 250, then there is a high possibility that even the RS 400 could be launched soon. The Pulsar RS400 expected price in India would be around 1.95 Lakhs to 2.1 Lakhs INR. In this price range in the faired or supersport segment, there is a limited number of options. If Bajaj launches its flagship Pulsar RS400 then it will be the most powerful faired bike in this price range.

Overview Of the Pulsar RS400

The upcoming Bajaj Pulsar RS400 will share its engine and most number of hardware components with its sibling, the Dominar 400. However, the design will be inspired by its younger sibling Pulsar RS 200. Most of the premium features on the Dominar 400 will be available on the RS 400.

Design

Bajaj Pulsar RS400 will have a design similar to its younger sibling RS 200. it will be the 2nd fully-faired motorcycle in the bajaj pulsar series. Starting from the front it will the aggressive alien-looking twin projector headlamps. Instead of the halogen bulb, it will come with LED headlamps with a thin LED DRL units. The tall visor will protect against wind blast at high speeds.

Upcoming Bajaj Bikes

The new pulsar will continue using the weird side farings with some minor changes. It will have a stylish step-up seat sleek grab rails. The tail section will also be equipped with a fully LED taillamps. Overall the design of RS 200 is kind of love it or hate it. So, the new RS 400 will be almost the same.

Engine & Performance

Bajaj Pulsar RS400 will be equipped with a 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, DOHC, 4-stroke engine derived from the Dominar 400. The engine will be mated to a six-speed transmission, with an assist and slipper clutch mechanism. The use of a fuel injection system will ensure smoother power delivery and good mileage.

Bajaj Pulsar RS 400

The motor that Dominar 400 uses is capable of producing 40 PS of maximum power and 35 Nm of peak torque, so the power figures will be the same for the RS 400. However, the power delivery could be tweaked to get a better top end for the Pulsar. Also, the torque delivery output could be tweaked for better top-end performance. It will be one of the most powerful 400cc bikes available in the market.

Chassis, Brakes & Suspension

Pulsar RS400 will use the perimeter frame like its siblings. Now the Dominar 400 comes with 41mm USD front forks, so we expect that pulsar gets the same up-side-down front fork like the Dominar. It will use a gas-charged rear mono-shock with an adjustable preload. The suspension setup will be stiffer than the Dominar.

For the braking duties, It will use a 320 MM four-piston fixed calipers disc at the front and a 230 MM two-piston floating calipers disc at the rear end. It will come with a dual-channel ABS as standard.

Mileage & Top Speed

The Pulsar RS400 will run on a higher compression engine and is completely performance-oriented, so the mileage figure will no be pleasant for an Indian buyer. The expected mileage of the RS 400 will be in the range of 25-28 KMPL* Approx.

Pulsar RS 400

The RS 400 will be the fastest pulsar ever. The top end of RS 400 will be better than the Dominar 400. It will be able to do more than 175 KMPH, considering it will be fully faired and will have an aerodynamic advantage.

Other Features

Some of the features from the Dominar will be forwarded to the new Pulsar RS400. it will have a fully digital instrument cluster that will show a plethora of information. The console will also display gear position and engine temperature.

The headlamps unit will be a bi-projector LED unit with a sleek LED DRL above them. It will have a dual-channel ABS as standard, but the option to disengage the rear-wheel ABS may not be there. The riding ergonomics will be aggressive. It will have an engine kill switch and side stand engine cut-off switch.

Competitors of Pulsar RS400

They are a lot of new products in this segment now, so if the RS 400 is launched it will have to compete with these amazing offerings in this segment.

  • TVS Apache RR310
  • Suzuki Gixxer 250
  • KTM RC 390

The biggest competitors of the new Pulsar RS400 will be TVS apache RR310 & KTM RC 390. While we expect Bajaj to price pulsar similarly to Dominar. If priced competitively it will be a great fit in this segment. When it comes to design the Apache RR310 leads in this segment and in terms of performance RC 390 is the segment leader.

So, Bajaj has to price it very competitively to attract buyers, who can’t stretch their budget for RC 390 and RR 310. If they priced it int the range of Dominar 400 then surely it will be a successful product for them in India.

Verdict

Finally, we would like to say it has been a really long time since the buzz was created. It was supposed to be launched in 2018, but it never happened. Seems like Bajaj has currently sidelined this project and moved on. We all want this beast to be launched in India as back then it was one of the most exciting upcoming bikes that people were talking about.

But the reality is there are now no talks or rumors of its launch in India in the coming months and years. We hope it is launched soon because Bajaj has recently revealed the unexpected Dominar 250 and is currently working on the Pulsar NS 250 & RS 250.

If launched now they have to match the standards set up by the new products in the market like the RC 390 and RR 310. The old RS design feels outdated now so, they must rework the design. They will have to add premium features like LED lights, USD forks, and more to appeal to the audience in this segment.

Lastly, we hope Bajaj launches the Pulsar RS400 soon. The new pulsar will add glory to the respectable Pulsar series of the brand. We all want to see a new-gen pulsar with punchy performance.
