About Suzuki Scooty

Suzuki Motor Corporation is a Japanese automobile manufacturer and it was founded by Mr Michio Suzuki. Its headquarter is in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan and this automobile giant is active in more than 192 countries. The brand was initially used to make weaving looms and it was very successful in that industry. Suzuki first two-wheeler was launched in 1952 and it was a bicycle fitted with a 36cc two-stroke engine. In 1954 the company officially changed its name to Suzuki Motor Company Limited and by then the brand was manufacturing around 6000 two-wheelers per month. Between 1955 to 1976 Suzuki use to manufacture only two-stroke motorcycles that were getting popular. Suzuki launched its first motorcycles with a four-stroke engine in 1976, the GS400 & GS750. Suzuki has successfully established itself as a leading manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters. It is currently the eleventh largest automobile manufacturer in the world in terms of production numbers. Suzuki has 35 production facilities in 23 countries and it has distributors in 192 countries.

Like the other Japanese automobile manufacturers, Suzuki also entered the Indian market in a partnership with a local manufacturer. Suzuki entered in a joint venture with TVS to share technical knowledge in 1982. This new venture helped both these brands produce two-wheelers suitable for the Indian market. The joint venture birthed some of the most successful and iconic two-stroke motorcycles like the Shogun and Samurai. These bikes were fast, lightweight, and affordable that made them an instant hit in the Indian market. In 2001 Suzuki parted ways with TVS due to different business perspectives. Suzuki re-entered the Indian two-wheeler market in 2006 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan. Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited was established in 2006 and its headquarter is in Gurgaon, Haryana. The company has a manufacturing facility in Gurgaon, Haryana and it has an annual production capacity of 5.4 million units.

Suzuki new subsidiary in India started by launching bikes in the 125cc and 150cc segment but none of them were able to stick for a long time. The brand tried its hand in the scooter market and launched its first model, the Access 125 in 2007. The Suzuki Access 125 was churning to huge sales volume every month and it quickly became one of the best selling scooters in India. Even today, the Suzuki Access 125 is the best selling 125cc scooter in the Indian market and it has been improved a lot of these years. Suzuki currently has only two scooter models in their Indian lineup and both of them are quite successful. The brand is also planning to launch some new models from their international lineup like the Burgman 200 in India soon. Suzuki is also testing an electric version of the Burgman scooter and its launch in India is also near.
