Yamaha is currently working on a touring specific variant of its streetfighter the MT-15. This upcoming sports touring machine will be named the Yamaha MT-15 Tracer. Its design will be based on its bigger sibling the Yamaha Tracer 700 & 900 and it will use a retuned 155cc single-cylinder engine. It is expected to launch in India this year and it is going to be the first bike from the tracer series to launch in India.

Yamaha MT-15 Tracer Overview
The upcoming Yamaha MT-15 Tracer will be based on the same 155cc motor as its streetfighter sibling. The single-cylinder motor will be BS6 compliant and will churn out 18.2 HP of maximum power. It will come mated to a 6-speed transmission and it will also feature a slipper clutch system. Yamaha might retune the power delivery on the MT-15 Tracer for a better mid-range and top-end performance.
It will use a telescopic front fork and a mono-cross suspension with preload adjustability at the rear. Braking duties on the Yamaha MT-15 Tracer will be taken care of by hydraulic disc brakes at both the wheels and it will also be equipped with ABS. It will be equipped with features like an LED headlamp and an LCD console like its sibling the Yamaha MT 125 & MT-15.

As per some reports from the automotive industry, Yamaha is currently working on the MT-15 Tracer and it is still in the initial development stage. The brand has not disclosed any official launch date yet, but we think it might be introduced in India this year. It will carry a slightly higher price tag than its streetfighter sibling. The Yamaha MT-15 Tracer price in India will be around Rs 1.46 Lakhs.

Our Verdict
The upcoming Mini Tracer looks like a promising bike. It will be based on tried and tested engine and frame that is loved by Indian buyers. Also, the demand for touring bikes in India has shot up in recent times. It will share most of the components with MT-15 & R15, so it will be easy for Yamaha to manufacturer it locally in India.
It will miss out on features like USD forks to keep the cost in check. We are excited to see this mini tourer and we hope it launched soon. If Yamaha MT-15 Tracer is priced competitively like its siblings then it will be a great addition to the Yamaha 155cc lineup in India.
