RC8 R vs Ducati 1198 S: One of the major competitors of the KTM RC8 R is the Ducati 1198 S. In terms of looks the Ducati 1198 S has an upper hand due to the sophisticated design. The engine size of Ducati 1198 S is slightly bigger but still, KTM is more powerful. The 1198S produced 170 HP power, which is 3 HP lesser than the RC8R.
But in real-world, the performance of these twins are quite similar. The KTM RC8 R likes to be revved, has a slightly comfortable ergonomics and it is more street-friendly. While the Ducati 1198S has a committed riding position which can be annoying while riding for a long time on roads. But on the track, a more torquey engine and excellent chassis give it an edge over the RC8.
Our Verdict on KTM RC8 R
Well, looks are subjective and most people might not like the quirky and angular design of the KTM RC8 R. The slipper clutch reduces engine back-torque and prevents the rear wheel chatter while decelerating.
