Yamaha YZF-R25 Overview
Design & Styling: The new Yamaha R25 is offered in three paint schemes to choose from. Its design is inspired by its bigger supersport sibling from the R series. At the front, you get a dual-LED headlight setup, a tall visor and an air intake duct that gives it an aggressive front-end look. It gets a muscular fuel tank and clean-looking side farings that sports the R25 decals. Its design is impressive and it looks premium.
Engine & Performance: The Yamaha YZF-R25 is equipped with a 249cc 2-cylinder, 4-stroke engine. Its DOHC engine is liquid-cooled and comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. It churns out 35 HP of maximum power at 12,000 RPM and 23 Nm of peak torque at 10,000 RPM. The high-revving engine of the Yamaha R25 has an exceptional top-end performance. It has a top speed of around 173 km/h and its average fuel efficiency is nearly 37 kmpl.
Frame, Brakes, & Suspension: It is based on a diamond-type frame that is lightweight and agile. The braking duties on the Yamaha YZF-R25 are taken care of by a 298 mm 2-piston calliper disc brakes at the front wheel and a single 220 mm disc brake at the rear wheel. It also comes with a dual-channel ABS as standard. The Yamaha R25 is equipped with an inverted front fork and swingarm-linked rear monocross suspension.
Dimensions: The new Yamaha R25 has gained a little weight, its kerb weight is now 170 kg. Its wheelbase is 1,310 mm and its total length is 2,090 mm. It offers a ground clearance of 160 mm and its seat height is 780, which makes it fairly accessible. Its fuel tank capacity is 14 litres, which is slightly larger than its competitors like KTM RC 250.
Lighting: The Yamaha YZF-R25 comes with Dual LED headlamps with LED position lamps. Its dual headlamp setup not only looks great but also offers great illumination with minimal power consumption. It gets LED tail lamp and the new model also boasts LED turn indicators. This supersport comes with an inbuilt hazard lamp feature that lights up all four turn indicators simultaneously. The hazard light feature serves as a signal of emergency and it also improves the overall visibility of the bike.
Instrument Console: It comes with a fully digital multi-function instrument cluster like the one seen on the 2024 MT-25. The Yamaha YZF-R25 instrument console looks neat and it is also easy to read. Its LCD console shows a speedometer, tachometer, trip meter, odometer and fuel gauge. The LCD console shows engine temperature and a digital clock as well. Its console also has a gear position indicator and it also shows real-time fuel efficiency.
Wheels & Tyres: Yamaha YZF-R25 comes with stylish 5-spokes cast alloy wheels that compliment the overall design of the bike. It is equipped with radial tyres that enhances handling & provide superior grip both on-road and on race tracks. It runs on 110/70-17 tyre upfront and 140/70-17 tyre at the rear.
Misc Features: It comes with split seats that look very sporty. It is equipped with a high-quality aluminium rider and pillion footpegs. The Yamaha YZF-R25 sports a sleek and compact side-slung exhaust muffler with chrome tips. Yamaha R25 Price in India & Launch Date
The latest 2024 model of the R25 has been launched in certain countries. This 250cc supersport is mainly sold in some south-east Asian markets. Also, as the Yamaha R3 is already on sale in India, the chances of the launch of its 250cc sibling seem unreal. As of now, there are no launch plans for the Yamaha YZF-R25 in India.
As the premium 250cc bikes are doing really good in terms of sales these days in India, Yamaha might consider replacing the R3 with a cheaper R25 in the Indian market. The Yamaha R25 price in India is expected to be around Rs 2.8 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom). If Yamaha manages to price it aggressively, it will give a great competition to the existing 250cc supersport bikes.

The 1-cylinder bikes like GPR 250 & RC 250 don’t fare against the twin-cylinder R25 due to low power and torque output.
However, the major competitor of the Yamaha R25 is Ninja 250 & CBR 250RR. Both of these bikes are equipped with a 2-cylinder engine and their power & torque output are more or less in the same range. Also, these bikes come with an almost similar set of equipment and features. But, In this lot of quarter-litre supersport bikes, the CBR250RR comes out as the most powerful and feature-loaded bike.

Yamaha R25 has been updated with new exciting paint schemes. The new metallic cyan blue colour variant with orange alloy looks very unique. It has a sharp and sleek body design that lives up to the R-series DNA. The overall build quality is great and it looks premium. It is one of the best-looking 250cc supersport motorcycles on the market.
It is equipped with an updated 249cc inline-2 cylinder engine with VVA technology. The Yamaha YZF-R25 makes 35 HP of maximum power and 23 Nm of peak torque. It is not the most powerful in the 250cc lot, but it manages to pull out some great performance. The high-revving engine of the R25 has a great top-end performance. Its engine is potent and it delivers thrilling acceleration and smooth power delivery across the rev band.
The Yamaha YZF-R25 comes fitted with USD front forks, that is rigid and provide great front-end feedback without losing real-world comfort. It is based on a lightweight and compact diamond chassis that gives it sporty and agile handling. The 298 mm disc brake at the front and 220 mm disc brake at the rear provide adequate braking power. The 2-channel ABS onboard gives the rider confidence to ride in wet & slippery conditions.
